~ What to Wear :: Family ~
I have a crazy October.
I’m just going to start out with that fact!
I’m also so happy to be so busy! The colors are showing up, slowly and not quite perfectly, but thats okay! There WILL be color and any session I can photograph with those colors is going to be awesome!
For all you families out there who have a session scheduled, or who are thinking about your next session, I wanted to talk about clothing just for a second!
Clothing is as important as just getting everyone together! I always tell my families not to stress about your clothing!! It can be as simple or as complicated as you make it, so here are a few tips for those of you who - like me - have a tendency to overthink your clothing choices!
First - Pick a base color. I usually tend to lean towards neutrals for that base. Gray or White is always good! Picking that simple base color ensures that your whole family matches in one way! This base color can be varying shades, just as long as you have that same color across the board is important.
Second - Choose an accent color(s). The seasons will help you choose your accent color. For fall the burnt orange, mustard yellow, browns and tans are always wins! I also love navy as a base or accent color!
One thing to be aware of is how your family looks in any of these colors! My family can pull off mustard and burnt orange simply because we have dark hair! If you all have fair features, mustard yellow might not look amazing on you.
I also always suggest to stay away from “real” yellow and red. Not many people can pull off those colors! Colors that most EVERYONE looks great in, however, is blue!
Third - Add in those pops! Take a second to look at what your family wears on a daily basis. If your daughter loves dresses, look for a dress for her. If your son HATES button downs, you shouldn’t fight him into one. Use your family style when looking for clothing!
If your family looks like your family, you will love your images that much more!!
Add in a scarf, a cozy sweater over a collared shirt, a fuzzy vest over that dress, boots and bow-ties!
I hope this helps you choose outfits! I am also always adding to my Pinterest board for outfits. Feel free to have a look! HERE
